Pure Path — Recovery & Self-Control App

Effective date: March 1, 2026Last updated: March 13, 2026Contact: support@pure-path.app

Pure Path ("we", "our", or "us") is a recovery and self-control app designed to help individuals track sobriety streaks, build healthy habits, and stay motivated on their personal journey. We built Pure Path with privacy as a core principle — not an afterthought.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Pure Path collects, how it is used, how it is protected, and your rights regarding your data. By using Pure Path, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1

Information We Collect

Pure Path is designed to work primarily on your device. We distinguish between two categories of data:

A. Data stored locally on your device (never sent to us)

The following data is stored exclusively on your device using encrypted local storage. We have no access to it:

  • Your sobriety start date and streak history
  • Your personal intention or reason for recovery (if entered)
  • Daily journal entries and reflections
  • Habit names, schedules, and completion history
  • App settings and preferences (theme, language, notifications)

B. Data collected when using online features

The following data is collected only when you use optional online features (Community, cloud backup):

  • Anonymous username: A randomly generated or user-chosen display name used in the Community feature. This is not linked to your real identity.
  • Community posts: Text content you voluntarily share in the Community feed, including post category (Wins, Struggles, Shared) and timestamps.
  • Account credentials (optional): If you create an account for cloud backup, we store a hashed password and email address solely for authentication purposes.
  • Encrypted backup data (optional): If you enable cloud backup, your app data is encrypted on your device before being uploaded. We cannot read the contents.

C. Automatically collected technical data

When you use the app, we may automatically collect minimal technical information for app stability:

  • App version and operating system version
  • Crash reports (anonymized, containing no personal information)
  • General region/language setting (for localization only)

We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, precise location, contacts, photos, or any other sensitive device data.

2

How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to operate and improve Pure Path:

  • To provide and maintain app functionality
  • To enable the Community feature (displaying your posts to other users)
  • To restore your data if you use cloud backup and switch devices
  • To send push notifications you have opted into (reminders, milestone alerts)
  • To diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
  • To improve the app based on anonymized, aggregated usage patterns

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the app.

3

Data Storage and Security

Local data

All sensitive personal data — your streak, journal entries, habits, and intentions — is stored locally on your device using AES-256 encrypted storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup.

Cloud backup (optional)

If you enable cloud backup, your data is encrypted end-to-end on your device before transmission. Data is stored on secure servers with access controls. Only you — using your account credentials — can decrypt and restore your backup. Pure Path staff cannot read your backed-up data.

Community data

Community posts are stored on secure servers. Posts are associated with your anonymous username only — never with your email, device ID, or real identity. You may delete your posts at any time from within the app.

4

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.

We may share limited data only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use trusted third-party infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, crash reporting) under strict data processing agreements. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data would be transferred only with prior notice and subject to the same privacy commitments.
5

Content Protection Feature

Pure Path includes an optional Content Protection feature that guides you to configure Private DNS filtering on your device (using a third-party DNS service such as CleanBrowsing). This feature:

  • Is entirely optional and configured within your device's network settings
  • Is operated by the DNS provider, not by Pure Path
  • Does not send any data to Pure Path
  • Does not monitor your browsing activity

Please review the privacy policy of any third-party DNS provider you choose to use.

6

Push Notifications

Pure Path may send push notifications for: daily reminders, milestone celebrations, affirmation messages, and Community activity (if enabled). You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your device Settings or within the app under Settings → Smart Notifications.

Notification tokens are stored securely and used only for delivering notifications you have opted into.

7

Data Retention

  • Local data: Retained on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.
  • Cloud backup: Retained until you delete your account or manually delete the backup.
  • Community posts: Retained until you delete them or delete your account.
  • Account data: Retained until account deletion. Upon deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
  • Crash reports: Retained for up to 90 days in anonymized form.
8

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential data processing at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@pure-path.app. We will respond within 30 days.

9

Children's Privacy

Pure Path is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10

International Users

Pure Path is available globally. If you are located outside the country where our servers are based, your information may be transferred to and processed in another country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR for users in the European Union.

11

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Contact us at support@pure-path.app to exercise these rights.
